our cat has a constant sore on the back joint of paw. We get it almost healed, then it breaks open again. It is right at the heel bone. took him to vet, given injection antibiotic, and bandage. We have loosely bandaged with antibiotic ointment, then let it stay unbandaged for a few days. Just when we think it is better, it recurs. Is cauterization the answer? Appreciate any help thank you
RESPONSE:
Although not common for some sores to be troublesome healing, in a case like this where it keeps recurring, oftentimes the best option is cauterization. Since you've had him to your vet already, I suggest you phone them and ask if they agree that this is the best option. If they concur, then once the procedure is done and healed you shouldn't have the same issue.
Although our furry little friends will sometimes have a new problem, its not the same one. I wish you well on getting this resolved.
