Our cat is 7 months old she wakes us up at 3 or 5 she doesn't want to be by herself. how to break this. They told us she was 3 month when we adopted but I think only 6 weeks. she is very attached to us.
RESPONSE:
It sounds like your kitty may have been separated from her mother at a very early age. Hence she is needy. There are a couple of things you can try and hope for some success.
You can try to wrap a small clock in a soft blanket to place in her bed. The sound of the clock reminds them of the heartbeat of their mother. You can also try to place her bed in your bedroom since she seems to feel insecure. Perhaps seeing you while you sleep will be enough.
The only other option that I know of is to close your bedroom door and not allow her inside until you get up in the morning. My Coty used to holler and whine plus scratch the bedroom door until she learned the routine. And, I know its difficult to be firm with these loveable little critters, but over time (about 10 days for Coty) they learn.
So, break the habit or live with the inconvenience. A hard choice to make. I wish you good luck in resolving this issue.
