Can we use the subject inhalent to make our cat unconcious.?After the use of subject inhalent,How to bring the cat back to normal condition? please advice, immediately.my e-mail address:-adnanyakub@hotmail.com
RESPONSE:
Sevoflurane is used as an inhalant for cats but it is used with a 2 to 1 ratio of nitrous oxide and oxygen. The sevoflurane is typically around 7%. The flow of these 3 agents is given simultaneously by use of a small induction mask. If there are complications a veterinarian will lower the amount of sevoflurane to 3-5%. When the gas mixture is stopped, the cat regains consciousness quickly, sometimes in as little as 5 minutes.
However, by your urgency, it made me think that you might be thinking of doing this yourself. This is not something you can do by yourself. This is something that a veterinarian surgeon has to do because controlling the flow of the 3 agents isn't as simple as it sounds. An incorrect mix of the agents could cause neurological damage to the cat and even kill it.
Please call a qualified veterinarian and get professional advice.
