I have about a 8 month old kitten and she has a rough patch at the one corner of her mouth and she hasn't had it all the time. Maybe for about a month now I've really noticed it I didn't think it was anything and it might now be anything at all. But it doesn't bother her when I touch it and doesn't seem to be painful I just don't know what it is. This my first car I've ever had so I don't know much about cats at all any help?????
RESPONSE:
There are a number of causes for rough patches on a cat's face, not just around the mouth. A common one is feline acne which can be caused by simple things like the plastic bowl they eat from or even stress. Sometimes a special shampoo will clear this us or antibiotics if it is accompanied by a bacterial infection.
You didn't say if the rough patch was slightly elevated but if it is, it could possibly be Eosinophilic Granuloma
I wish you luck in resolving this for your cat.
