Our neutered male indoor cat was lost outside for over a week. We found him hiding under a schoolhouse.
My concern is what should we do right away to insure he is healthy and not loaded with vermin, or diseased. He seems fine, but is dirty. He is very happy to be home but we are afraid of what he has been exposed to. Any advice on handling this situation?
Thank you!
RESPONSE:
I would suggest that you do the same we do when we allow a stray into our home. They are kept in one room until we can get them to our vet to be checked out and once they have the been given a clean bill of health, they join the rest of our cat population.
