I have a male cat approximately 3 years old that continues to pull his hair out. I have tried steroid shots, valium, baths, acupuncture and changing diet
I know the cat is allergic to chicken and eggs and having trouble even finding canned cat food that does not have chicken, chicken broth or eggs.
This cat will pull his hair out until he bleeds and is bald. The hair is not pulled out from areas that typically say allergies but along his back which appears to be hot to the touch.
I have and continue to check the cat for fleas and never find any. I also keep new sorresto flea collars on the cat for flea prevention.
Needless to say I have and continue to take the cat to vets. My normal vet has give up and tells me to take to the to AVS specialists, which I had lie to me on test that were supposedly run on another cat several years ago so I am reluctant to be taken advantage of a second time.
any suggestions?
RESPONSE:
You seem to be a caring owner, doing all the right things. A related issue happened to me with one of my cats some years ago, although not as severe as yours.
