My tabby is about 9yrs old. He started limping about a year ago and I took him in to get checked , they did an X-ray but couldn’t see and told me to make him loose weight and he’ll be fine. 6 months later he lost 5 lbs... and was limping even worse. Got a second opinion they took more X-rays found that he had a broken scapula... I thought it odd that it hadn’t healed yet... they said let do X-rays in 4 weeks
At that next appointment he had even more of a weird limp but on the back leg... scapula was still broken and now his fibula they did a calcium check and it came back fine... 4 weeks later now he has 4 broken ribs and still zero healing on scapula and fib!!! At first they thought I was abusing him but now I think they are finally believing me that it’s not us doing it to him! Is there no hope? Have you ever heard of anything like this?
RESPONSE:
No, I have never heard of this happening. However, you didn't say if he was an outdoor cat or indoors only.
If he is allowed outside then someone else could be abusing him. If he is indoors only, then do you have an area that he could be falling into? There has to be a reason.
I wish I could offer some guidance but I can only suggest you have the vet check for hormonal imbalances, bone infections, and bone cancer.
