Black Discharge which looks like Black Tar

by Butch
(Idamay WV)

Our cat Bubba is 13 years old and just had his leg amputated due to cancer. Since his operation, we have noticed this Black Tar like substance all over his coat and face. We were thinking it was blood from his lungs but have not found any reddish colored blood. He has had significant weight loss and we have noticed he is having trouble eating and swallowing his food and can no longer lap his water with his tongue like normal. Is this an infection or has the cancer returned and taken control

RESPONSE:

There are too many possibilities to guess what it is so I suggest you phone the vet that did the surgery on your cat and describe what has happened. Hopefully, the vet will have an answer for you.
