We noticed a hair sticking out of our cats mouth and figured it was something she picked up. But it didn't come out and we investigated to find it is a single hair growing out of her upper gum. Really strange and was curious to know if anyone has seen this before? Thanks in advance! Attached is a picture.
RESPONSE:
I have never seen this before. I don't think it's a health issue but the next time you go to your vet, I would have it looked at.
I suspect that during grooming a hair got lodged in just the right position to become embedded in the gum long enough for it to become "ingrown". It's the only logical thing I can think of.
Perhaps one of our readers will comment if they have had a cat with a similar experience.
